Teamate needed for Tour Transalp

Post by DBM »

Looking for a team mate for the Tour Transalp race.

The Tour Transalp stage race from Oberstdorf, Germany to Lake Garda is taking place from June 28 to July 04, 2015. For those who are not familiar, this is a stage race through the European Alps and is open to any willing participants over the age of 18. Teams of 2 compete over some of the most challenging and scenic roads that the world has to offer a cyclist. The race is well supported with numerous rest stations, police traffic control and technical support should it be required. While the course is world class it is an amateur race.

The Good: I completed the 2012 edition of the race and it was one of the most fantastic experiences of my life (in fact it was the best but when I told my wife she wasn't too happy to hear it. I enjoyed our wedding and the births of our sons but, come on..). The whole affair is organized by Germans so you know it's going to go off without a hitch. The route tackles many of the famous mountain passes of the Giro d'Italia going right through the heart of the Dolomites and touching on some of the Austrian alps. Each day is more scenic than the rest and, although the exact route has yet to be released, chances are that the majestic Stelvio will be featured.

The Bad: It's organized by Germans so you know you're going to upset them at some point by standing too far to the left or wearing the wrong colour or hanging out your laundry on a Sunday. The route tackles many of the famous passes of the Giro d'Italia so you are going to suffer like a dog for significant portions of time. You will hate your bike at some point but love your life. All in all, not so bad then.

While I say it's a race and talk about competing, I have no intention of leaving Europe with any sort of a prize. Truthfully if I could make the top 50%  I'd be ecstatic. I recently celebrated my 41st birthday so someone in or around that age with be ideal.

Registration takes place on the first of December and places sell out within 30 minutes.

I'm really hoping to take part again in 2015 but am struggling to find a suitable teammate. My e-mail address is barry-murphy@gmx.com. If you or someone just likes feels ready and willing to take the challenge, I'd love to talk to you and answer any questions you have. You can also check out the official website http://www.tourtransalp.de

Thanks

Dermot.
